Both sun and moon demurely hiding behind clouds.

Even so their light gives their hidden beauty away.

Soaking up the sun and ocean after the recent rains was balm for souls and spirits.

It was a sunny and clear day, once you got used to it, the water felt actually quite warm.

The children had a day off school and I was surprised that we had the beach almost to ourselves – hardly anyone there. We made the most of it and the boys spend most of their time in the water, while I spend most of mine in the sun reading my book.

And, yes, I went in the water too.

A beautiful day, exquisite moments
to remember.

Glasshouse Mountains, Queensland

Cool and clear this morning.

My youngest son and I went for a little excursion today – we didn’t walk very much, but sat in the warm sun and he did some sketching of the Glasshouse Mountains and the roaming bush turkeys. And I had a lovely outdoor nap after lunch when the warm sunshine made me very drowsy – I am so grateful for this change in weather, it is such a relief to the spirit.

Late this afternoon, after the sun had passed below the western trees, I saw the international space station pass over – like a bright star moving through the still blue sky – with a clear and cloudless view of us down here today.

Hibiscus Harlequin Beetle (Tectocoris diophthalmus)

We found some Harlequin Beetle eggs on the Norfolk Island Hibiscus which we have placed in a container to watch them hatch.

It was unexpectedly sunny today, but with a cold wind blowing.

A very welcome day after the last week of wet weather.

Wash Day! I tried to get as much of it done today as was possible to get dry.

I also staked and tied up my flowering herbs to get the seeds to ripen – hopefully.

There is more rain forecast for the weekend and it’s already raining south of the border.

Made the best use of any sunshine I got today!

A gloriously sunny day I spent working indoors – although I managed to have my lunch on the deck.

I raided the herb garden to add to our dinner menu and came up with watercress, chives, parsley and had a nibble of gota kola and brahmi as well. I’m so lucky to have access to fresh herbs.

Waratahs

Market Day – a favourite day of the month. A community get-together and pancakes cooked for me, conversation and catch-up, great organic coffee made to perfection – even the sun was shining. Perfect.

It was a beautiful morning, beautiful produce – bread, flowers, plants – and beautiful people. My son was jumping rope for the Heart Foundation and collected a cupful of donations for his efforts. He did a fantastic job, I’m so proud of him.

For the rest of the month I have my native flowers to enjoy – a bunch of gorgeous waratahs.

These hibiscus flowers gladden
me today – I need some cheer.

Big swirling skirts

Open smiling faces

Laughing at the sun.

Or bright pink radio dishes

Sending yellow signals:

Pollen anyone?

The sun is back. Although I had to work indoors all day, I managed to have lunch outside on the deck. Bruschetta with fresh avocado, lime, salt and pepper – sunshine on toast.

A friend of mine from down south is visiting for a while.

Queensland holds the promise of warm weather for sun-starved southerners.

We try to live up to the reputation and today we both enjoyed a coffee on the sunny Maleny sidewalk and the lovely sunset through the palm trees hid the fact we still have winter here.
